ANALISIS PERAN SEKTOR PERTANIAN DALAM PEREKONOMIAN DAN KESEMPATAN KERJA DI PROVINSI RIAU

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the role of agriculture to the economy and employment in the province of Riau. The background of this study is the decline in public demand for agricultural products in line with increasing economic growth and incomes. The study using panel data and methods of analysis by panel data regression analysis. The results showed that the agricultural sector has a significant effect increased the value of GDP in province of Riau, where 1 million increased in the value of the agricultural sector lead total GDP increasing by 3.096264 million. Then the agricultural sector is also has a significant effect on employment, where 1 point increase in agricultural sector GDP led to a total employment (the number of people working) in Riau province increased by 0.009646. This is an indication that the agricultural sector still has a significant influence on the economy and employment, even if demand on the agricultural commodities ranging reduced by globalization.
